Breonna Taylor would have been 27 years old today (June 5). Taylor was an EMT in Louisville, KY and worked at two different hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic. “Breonna Taylor was full of life and loved social gathering with her friends and especially her family,” her obituary reads. “She loved life and all it had to offer. She continued to find ways to better herself and the people around her.”
Taylor was killed by the Louisville Metro Police during a late-night raid on her and her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker’s home. The police had the wrong address and the suspect they were looking for had been apprehended hours earlier. Taylor was shot eight times after the police opened fire. Today would have been her 27th birthday. Here are some things you can do to support her family, Black Lives Matter and the cause as a whole.

The killing of George Floyd sparked protests and riots around the world. Peaceful Black Lives Matter protests have occurred in all 50 states of the US and continue to spread as the cause draws more and more support. The officers that murdered George Floyd have been charged which is a step in the right direction, however, nearly two months after Breonna Taylor was killed, the three officers involved have not faced justice.
In a way to support Breonna Taylor’s family and remember her name and her kindness and generosity, people are posting images and messages on what would have been her 27th birthday.
