While speaking to Bloomberg about her art exhibit selling a percentage of her soul, she revealed the baby is affectionately referred to as “Little X.”
To catch you up on the saga of their child’s ridiculous name, it was revealed their baby boy is named X Æ A-12 Musk initially.
“So, it’s just X, the letter x, and then the Æ is pronounced Ash.” He continues by saying his contribution to the name is A-12 as in the Archangel 12, which is the “precursor to SR-71, the coolest plane ever.”
Under California law though, it’s illegal to name your baby using numbers or symbols. They opted instead for X Æ A-Xii. It’s still pronounced the same way, but now it reflects Roman numerals instead of numbers.
If that isn’t weird enough, Grimes revealed this week that she’s selling a percentage of her soul to the highest bidder as part of an art project.
It is putting together several drawings, digital illustrations, photos and more from the past decade of Grimes’ work.
In an interview with Bloomberg, she says she considers this as an extension and continuation of her music career though.
“The deeper we got with it, the more philosophically interesting it became,” she explained. “Also, I really wanted to collaborate with my lawyer on art. The idea of fantastical art in the form of legal documents just seems very intriguing to me.”
At the beginning of the idea, she wanted it to be improbable anyone would buy her soul which is where the $10 million price point comes from. With people having limited resources due to the coronavirus though, she changed it to “best offer.”
Elsewhere in the interview though, her child’s name comes up and she says she calls him “Little X.”
While Little X isn’t a very typical name, it’s far better than being referred to by his legal name. Whether or not this sticks when he’s older will be up to the people he interacts with but calling someone Little X or X sounds more likely than ever saying X Ash Archangel Twelve.
