August Burns Red have kept their fans waiting for new details on their eighth full-length and they are finally receiving them. The band dropped the name of their upcoming LP Guardians along with a music video for their new single “Defenders.”
Last year, the band announced they were working on their eighth album with a teaser video.
The band posted “LP 8” on Instagram as well as dropped footage from the studio.
Yesterday, the group tweeted out a video with a caption that simply read “Tomorrow.”

Now, we know the clip is from a sick new music video for their newest single “Defender.”
Earlier today, the band announced the release along with the name of their upcoming alum Guardians.

The music video is a comic-book-inspired animation following one hero as he takes down villain after villain.
“The song ‘Defender’ is about having that person who can come in and take some punches for you, and be in your corner during hard times,” says guitarist Brent Rambler. “I am quite the comic book fan and I thought the lyrics could easily turn into an awesome animated short story; kind of like if the pages of a comic were to come to life. Luckily, everyone else agreed and we have this sick video to go along with the song.”

Guardians drops April 3 via Fearless Records and is available to preorder here.
Guitarist JB Brubaker revealed that the LP is one of their most collaborative pieces yet.
“Guardians is the culmination of a complete and total team effort,” he states. “Dustin [Davidson] and I collaborated musically more than we ever have before. Jake [Luhrs] and Brent collaborated vocally more than they ever have before. Matt [Greiner] bounced more drum ideas off of us than we could even comprehend.”
“It was the most time we’ve ever spent in the studio on one album. We’re all so proud of this record, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”
